Writing Prompts allows us to step out of our comfort zone and exercise our writing skills. Writing prompts are a sure way to bring out your creativity. It's amazing how one quote or line sparks inspiration and makes me want to type away at the keyboard and create something magical. I hope the prompts below inspire you.
Story Opening Writing Prompt
* Begin a story with the words: "If I'd known then what I know now, I never would have....." Continue the opening for up to 500 words.
Use personification to write a short story where the main character is an animal.
"Stop. Just Stop."
Create a conversation between two characters using the above quote.
Write one thousand words or less about a single moment in time.
Write about a box that contains a mysterious object.
Write a story about one of your characters who has magic. The other wants nothing more than to have magic. How far is that one person willing to go to make that magic theirs?
1. Think about a setting.
2. Write two visual details, sounds, tactile details, and smells.
3. Write a paragraph of description of the scene incorporating some or all the things you just wrote down.
4. Use the word "lights" as inspiration!
